The chance to visit a variety of schools this year has been a total joy. Sharing poetry with students from large schools, small schools, from Cape Cod to New York energizes me as a writer and fills me with hope as an educator! (Plus there was one virtual visit to a school in the Atlanta area!)

Highlights include leading children in creating their own poems,

examining poetic forms,

using poetry to honor and celebrate others,

and giving children a sneak peek of my upcoming book, TRUCKS, BOOTS, AND BELLS (illustrated by the amazing Aaron Marin). TRUCKS, BOOTS, AND BELLS will be published by Holiday House Books for Young Readers on Oct. 6, 2026.

It’s been an excellent school year, a wonderful opportunity to meet new school communities and spread my wings, even speaking at one school’s Family Literacy Night… from the Bronx to Atlanta, from Truro to Bourne on the Cape!
